Morgan Freeman To Be Voice To Mark Zuckerberg’s Personal Assistance, Jarvis
It is going to be pretty exciting beginning to Mark Zuckerberg’s New Year as he has got a new visitor coming to his home this New Year, who is going to be around all the time. It is Jarvis, Zuckerberg’s home AI assistant.
And guess who is going to speak to Zuckerberg every day? It is Morgan Freeman himself. He will wake them up, and help the Zuckerberg couple in their daily chores.
Yes, Morgan Freeman has agreed to give his voice to this seemingly unrealistic system that does pretty much everything, including waking them up, playing the music of their choice, and opening gates when any guests arrive at Zuckerberg residence. It has recently started waking up their cute daughter Max with her Mandarin lessons.
The truth is that Tony Stark’s Jarvis AI that featured in Iron Man movies has inspired Zuckerberg to take this project and complete so that he can create his own personal assistant to hang out with and help him and the family members every day.
Isn’t it thrilling to have someone who listens to you and does everything you say? Well, it does sound more than exciting to me!
In October, Zuckerberg publicly asked his fans and public in general who should be the voice of his Jarvis. Many celebrities volunteered, including Robert Downey, Jr. who played Start in Iron Man.
Downey definitely had good plans in mind; if he was to give his voice to Jarvis, then the money be given to a charity of Benedict Cumberbatch’s choice.
As usual, the public had some other person in mind who they wanted to be Jarvis’ official voice. Over 50,000 people said that they would like Morgan Freeman to replace the female voice with which the family currently interacts.
Zuckerberg’s Request For Geeting Freeman’s Voice is Granted
While at the Breakthrough Awards, Zuckerberg requested Freeman to be Jarvis’ voice and Freeman has agreed to be a new voice of Jarvis. Zuckerberg had to finally listen to his fans’ clamoring and chose Freeman to be Jarvis’ voice.
There is no official statement issued by the Facebook about any financial offer made to Freeman for his giving his voice to Jarvis yet.
“Once you can speak to it, and it can speak back, it just feels much more—I don’t want to say part of the family because that’s too much—but it just feels more embodied, so Max just loves it,” Zuckerberg explained in an interview with FastCompany.
Imagine a 79-year old actor talking to Zuckerberg’s family members every day.
As was reported by Time, there are scientific reasons why people choose Freeman over all other actors for so many voice-over works.
“It’s not surprising that Morgan Freeman is used for a lot of voiceover work,” Casey Klofstad, an associate professor of political science at the University of Miami told Time, “because his voice is perceived as that of a dominant, strong male figure.”
It is also believed that Freeman’s low-pitched voice shows familiarity, strength, and attractiveness.
